Live Derby Report: Chilly but Fun!

Despite temps in the 20’s, pesky winds made for some chilly conditions.  The fish, too must have been affected by the ever changing weather conditions as fishing was as slow as we’ve seen during the eleven year run of Poles n Holes fishing derbies.

When it was all over, Tyler Haus of Detroit Lakes, emerged as the champion.  Tyler caught a 3.32 lb Northern fairly early in the derby and held on to win.  Congratulations, Tyler! See full list of winners here.

Derby participants were treated to the lovely background of large colorful kites in the sky as part of the DLCCC’s Kite festival.  I suppose the wind was helpful for them.  We also had several door prizes and great food and beverage service from the Holiday Inn.

After the obstacles of pandemic and weather postponements, we were grateful to be able to hold the derby at all.  And the compliance and enthusiastic support from our participants was greatly appreciated.

Remember, though, Poles N Holes isn’t completely over.  You still have time to take advantage of the virtual derby which runs through the end of February.  Sounds like we have some great weather days ahead—why not get out and fish the derby?
